Calvin invited me to guest-blog today...this is Nathan. August 28 was another cool cloudy day, so we didn't spend any time on the beach. After a lazy early morning, we headed out to Great Pond for a walk...we wandered through the woods with our friends and their dog, and the boys analyzed EVERY ...POSSIBLE ...Monopoly trade...repeatedly. It was riveting.
We went to our friends' place for lunch...after lunch, the boys played more Monopoly...unclear who won, but they decided on a new set of rules for yet another game later that evening. We then headed back to Great Pond, but this time, for fishing. This was our first time fishing, and overall it went great. Everybody learned how to cast, we caught two fish, and no humans were injured in the process (wish we could say the same for both fish...one had the hook rather deep inside, and none of us knew what to do about it...he died). Pictures of the fishing adventure will be added soon (my camera was in the backpack, but our friend took some photos that he will send along soon).
After fishing, we returned home, showered, and were joined by our friends for a fried chicken dinner (after some more Monopoly, of course). Over dinner, we discussed several possible formats for a ping pong tournament. After running various seeding algorithms (including a complex handicapping scheme), reigning champ Nathan won a hotly contested championship game in overtime. Finally, we celebrated the great day with ice cream at Bob's!
